DAY 5
Congresbury - Severn Bridge - Chepstow - Welsh Bicknor
50 miles, (261 total) 14th August
A good night's kip but apparently I took up two-thirds of the tent but I don't believe a word of it - but I do know my jacket (in disguise as my pillow) was nicked in the middle of the night!
Followed the very pleasant Avon Cycleway then miles of industrial developments before the Avonmouth and Severn Bridges (both with good cycle tracks) and into Wales - both rattling with traffic. A chap was sweeping Chepstow kerbs with a dustpan and brush. This must be an odd country! Legs feel better today - good as the last ten miles are into the Forest of Dean. Quiet and peaceful.
Welsh Bicknor Youth Hostel looked convenient until we found there was a big river in the way - something called the Wye. Up some steps, over a rickety old railway bridge and along a rough track solved the problem.
Great views over the Wye Valley.
